Meet the Heise Family
A family business can only manage to stay afloat through the work of many hands, all of which are actively involved. That’s us – Team Heise:
Peter Heise took over the winery from his father Thomas in 2016 and now he runs it together with his wife Janine in what makes the third generation of the family business. A trained professional in viticulture and oenology, Peter puts all his experience gained at home and abroad, along with endless amounts of heart and soul, into his family-run winery in Nierstein. He develops his wines with a finely honed sense of intuition, passion and experience, resulting in wines which inspire with their perfectly rounded acidity and particular notes of minerality.
Janine Heise trained as a teacher of German and Philosophy. In addition to her studies, she completed the second and third years of apprenticeship at the Rural Service Center for Rheinhessen, Nahe and Hunsrück in Oppenheim in order to further her knowledge of viticulture and oenology. In 2018, she was awarded the title of “Certified Advisor for German Wines,” and in the same year, she completed her training as Culture and Wine Ambassador for the Rheinhessen Winegrowing Region. She runs the business with a deep passion, and she particularly enjoys bringing her many new ideas to fruition.
The previous generation remains active in the business and provides his support wherever and wherever he can. He values contact with the winery’s customers above all else.
Betreuung des Gästehauses
Peter’s sister Sabine also remains active in the business, attentively looking after the patrons of our guest house. She is also happy to lend a hand at one of the many wine festivals, in the tavern, or anywhere else an extra pair of reliable hands is needed.
